Erika R. Oak, Psy.D.

Assistant Professor of School Psychology and co-author of Assessment with the WJ V COG.

Erika Oak, Psy.D., is an Assistant Professor in the School Psychology program at Fairleigh Dickinson University. She is a licensed psychologist and a certified school psychologist. She earned her doctorate from Fairleigh Dickinson University and has been involved with teaching at FDU since 2012.

Her research centers on cognitive assessment, with a focus on identifying and reducing examiner error, a frequent and under-examined source of invalid scores. Her research into practitioner errors across cognitive and achievement tests, including the Woodcock-Johnson tests, as well as the error checklists she has developed to support accurate administration, directly informs this book on the test's newest edition. Dr. Oak teaches assessment classes with an emphasis on in-vivo experience and error-free administration, scoring, and report writing.

Since 2022 she has served as Coordinator of Field Experiences for the School Psychology MA and Psy.D. programs, where she oversees practicum and internship experiences and serves as the university-based supervisor as MA students move toward certification and doctoral students toward licensure readiness. She also supervises psychoeducational assessment and clinical practicum at the FDU Center for Psychological Services and serves as the Diversity and Integrated Behavioral Health Care Specialist on FDU ENGAGED, a $2.4 million HRSA-funded initiative to build a more diverse behavioral health workforce for high-need communities.
